BAROQUE and BURLESQUE!!!

We went to a special event last night...

We began with a good meal at a typical french brasserie...

Seing our evening outfits, you can tell that it was not a common evening!

In fact we were in Nancy, a city not so far from home.

This city is known for being the birth place of Art Nouveau.

But it's also famous for a baroque place called Stanislas Place.

This place is a World Heritage Site by Unesco.

It was built in the middle of the XVIIIth century when our region was a duchy and didn't belong to French Kingdom.

This place was wonderfully restaured some years ago and it's really breathless!!!

We were there for a Burlesque night: BURLESQUE CARAVAN!

The party was in the City Hall.

An amazing place built in 1752...

You feel like a princess when you are climbing stairs...

A few words about my outfit...

I bought this 50's dress 10 years ago during my first Rn'R weekender: Rhythm Riot.

I love my husband suit bought in Viva Las Vegas last year.

My 50's headpiece was find in an Antique mall in Cape Cod many years ago.

This Chantilly lace stole is fully silver sequined, find in a thrift store for 1 euro...

Even from french people like us, visiting this kind of place is rare!

Here is our Royal portrait....

The elegant party was organized by a friend, Mitch Tornade, a dynamic DJ from Nancy.

It begun with dance...

I had the pleasure to meet Mlle M another french retro blogger (vintage world is always so small)!

And it was show time!!!

And look at the place where the show was done...

AMAZING, isn't it?

I'm usually not a big burlesque fan.

Burlesque is becomming so fashionable that you can see the best but also the worst!!!

In order to not miss anything from the show,

everybody sat down on dance floor!

Here are a few pictures of the performers...

Not easy to catch them in action!

All costumes were just gorgeous!

Feathers and glitters everywhere!

And some scary accessories....

All those girls performances were really glamorous!

The show was for men's pleasure, of course...

but also for ladies' one!!!!

We also enjoyed the sweet voice of Hailey Tuck.

She even sang "La vie en rose" for us!

And it was already The End... when you like something it's always too short!!!

We just took a last look at this wonderful place under some snow flakes...

Do you like Burlesque shows?
What do you think about this Stanislas Place?

  2. Looking very lovely, and oh how you match the interior of that magnificent building!! I love getting to see your vintage evening wear; I know I never have enough excuses to bring mine out! :)

I'm not a big burlesque fan, mainly as like you said, the trendiness of it means some real amateurs are going at it, haha. But the costumes are the best!

  5. I don't like burlesque, but I really like your photos! Here in Sweden, it seems most burlesque events are just an excuse for people who are not that into vintage to get to go out in their underwear. (Didn't seem like the audience at the event you went to were as nude as people seem to be at burlesque events here).

  6. Absolutely stunning surroundings and your outfit is just DIVINE! The deatil work to the back of the neck is wonderful, I love velevt...but with some sparkly bling it becomes amazing. I am intrigued to see more of your pretty shoes, they look so nice...but hard to tell from the photos. We have to Burlesque here in Melbourne and loved it, the costumes, music and the show. Thanks for sharing! xx Shauna

  9. What an exquisitely enchanting setting and evening out. I'm convinced I really was meant to be born in Europe! :)

Elegantly stunning ensembles, you guys, you both look absolutely wonderful. So classy, classic and beautiful/handsome.

  10. What a beautiful setting for an evening out. I would love to have a look around that palace. I also like the shots of the outside lit up at night. The fabric of your husband's tie is gorgeous.

  12. your dress is perectly gorgeous. yes, you looked like a queen. ha, and i love the royal portrait!!!
i love burlesque. but your totally right, sadly you can see a lot of bad shows(but people have to start small, if they learn to perform).
i really adore my first burlesque teacher. an amazing dancer and performer (actually she started with belly dancing and flamenco, then she went to n y for a special flamenco glass and fell in love with burlesque) - sadly her studio is too far away from the town i live in. so i was just able to attend special week end classes.
my second teacher is actually my bollywood dance teacher. she is fabulous in bollywood and belly dancing but i saw her once perform a burlesque show. me and my freinds had to leave the venue because it was emberassing. i stopped the burlesque classe in the beginning. anyhow, then my broken foot stopped my dancing anyhow.
you will never see me perfom live. to me it's just big fun and a kind of sport that makes me feel more comftable with my body.
